Pathology: conventional chordoma

Conventional chordoma

  • Lobulated; sheets and cords of epithelioid-polygonal cells

  • Abundant pale eosinophilic cytoplasm with frequent vacuolation

  • Round-ovoid nuclei with small nucleoli and mild pleomorphism; inconspicuous mitotic activity

  • Prominent myxoid stroma; necrosis

  • IHC: brachyury

Conventional chordoma

  • Lobulated; sheets of epithelioid-polygonal cells

  • Abundant pale amphophilic cytoplasm with frequent vacuolation

  • Round-ovoid nuclei with small nucleoli and mild pleomorphism; inconspicuous mitotic activity

  • Focal myxoid stroma

  • IHC: S100, keratin (AE1/AE3), brachyury

  • Hyaline cartilage and myxoid stroma

  • IHC: S100, keratin (AE1/AE3)
