About
GOAL
The purpose of this pathology atlas is to highlight the morphologic diversity of mesenchymal neoplasms. This website is roughly organized based on the WHO Classification of Soft Tissue and Bone Tumours (5th Edition, 2020) to facilitate ease of use. This is intended as an educational reference for trainees, pathologists, and clinicians.
AUTHOR
Dr. Brendan Dickson is a Professor in the Department of Laboratory Medicine & Pathobiology at the University of Toronto, and a Staff Pathologist in the Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital; Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
Dr. S. AlMohsen assisted with the preparation of multiple case presentations. Digital slide scanning was generously performed by Ms. P. Gandhikumar. Dr. S. Armstrong and Ms. R. Salamanca greatly assisted with retrieving material from the slide archives. Technological support was provided by the gross, histology, immunohistochemistry, and molecular laboratories (particularly Mr. D. Swanson) at Mount Sinai Hospital. Several of the cases presented herein were originally diagnosed by colleagues at Mount Sinai Hospital – including Dr. E. Demicco, Dr. E. Hahn, Dr. D. Howarth, Dr. R. Kandel, and Dr. L. Zhang, amongst others – and Dr. C. Chung at the Hospital for Sick Children. This work would not be possible without the expert technical skills of many interventional radiologists, clinicians, and surgeons; and, especially, the generosity of pathology colleagues who have shared many of these challenging neoplasms in consultation.
